QA Tester - Magic Madness VR

(2-3 Months Freelance / Summer Student Contract)

We're looking for 2 QA Testers to help us find bugs, improve gameplay feel, and push the quality of Magic Madness VR - a competitive multiplayer VR game and one of Victoria VR's flagship projects.

This is a full-time summer engagement (2-3 months, ~8 hrs/day) via freelance or student contract - ideal for students or anyone available over the summer. If you live and breathe games and want to spend your summer doing exactly that, this might be the job for you.

No prior QA experience required - we'll get you up to speed individually. What matters most is that you're passionate about games and take your work seriously.

Focus Areas: Game Testing | QA | VR | Magic Madness VR

About Magic Madness VR

Magic Madness VR is the ultimate PvP experience in VR - a fast-paced multiplayer game where up to four players battle each other using the raw powers of fire, water, earth, metal and wood.

Master unique spells, adapt to dynamic arenas, and outwit your opponents in a test of skill, strategy and reflexes. Every element comes with its own playstyle:

  • Fire - passion, destruction, transformation
  • Water - flow, control, adaptability
  • Earth - strength, stability, defense
  • Metal - precision, sharpness, aggression
  • Wood - growth, support, versatility

Magic Madness VR launched on Steam (PC VR) in March 2025 and is now in active development, with new content, balancing and a standalone VR port on the way. The game is built in Unreal Engine 5 by a small, focused team in the center of Prague.

We're a Prague-based VR studio (Victoria VR) and Magic Madness VR is our flagship game. You'll be joining the core team shaping its future.

Your Role

As a QA Tester, you'll play and break Magic Madness VR - systematically testing gameplay, mechanics, UI, and overall player experience across different builds.

Our players deserve the best possible experience, and testers play a pivotal role in making that happen. You'll work closely with the game development team to report what you find, verify fixes, and help ensure that every update that ships is stable, polished, and fun to play.

We're looking for someone who:

  • is genuinely passionate about games - someone with serious hours logged
  • has a sharp eye for bugs, edge cases, and anything that feels "off"
  • can describe issues clearly so developers can actually reproduce and fix them
  • is comfortable following test plans as well as exploring the game on their own
  • takes ownership of their findings, communicates proactively, and follows up to make sure things get resolved

Tools & Workflow

  • Bug tracking: Azure DevOps (or similar - we'll get you up to speed)
  • Testing environment: PC VR headset (Meta Quest / PC SteamVR)
  • Communication: Direct collaboration with the Magic Madness development team
  • Documentation: Test reports, bug tickets, reproduction steps

What You'll Work On

  • Playing and testing new builds of Magic Madness VR across game modes and platforms
  • Reporting bugs with clear reproduction steps, screenshots, and session notes
  • Running regression tests to verify that fixed issues stay fixed
  • Exploring gameplay edge cases - unusual inputs, unexpected interactions, performance dips
  • Reviewing new features (spells, maps, UI, progression systems) before they go live
  • Sharing honest player feedback on game feel, balance, and usability
  • Supporting the team during pre-release windows and major update cycles

What We're Looking For

  • A passionate gamer - lots of hours across many games, you know what good feels like
  • VR gaming experience is a big plus, but not required - enthusiasm and curiosity matter more
  • Ability to write clear, structured bug reports in English
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing
  • Strong communicator - you flag blockers early, follow up, and keep the team informed
  • Available full-time on-site in Prague for the summer, start ASAP
  • No specific degree required - passion, carefulness, and the ability to get things done matter most

Bonus Points / Nice to Have

  • Previous QA or playtesting experience (personal projects count)
  • Familiarity with VR platforms (Meta Quest, SteamVR)
  • Basic understanding of game development or Unreal Engine
  • Experience with bug tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • You've already played Magic Madness VR

What We Offer

  • 2-3 month freelance or summer student contract, ~8 hours/day
  • Location: Wenceslas Square, Prague - full on-site collaboration
  • Start: ASAP
  • Compensation based on experience
  • Hands-on work on a live VR game
  • Direct communication with the dev team and minimal bureaucracy
  • A genuine look inside how a VR game is built and shipped

Application Task

To apply, please complete the following short task and include it with your application. This is your chance to show us how you think and that you're already playing games.

Select a video game of your choice and conduct exploratory testing to identify a defect through your own gameplay experience. The reported issue should be an original observation discovered during your own gameplay - not a well-known bug or one easily found through online research. Document your findings in a professional bug report, including all relevant information necessary for effective investigation and reproduction.

Feel free to include screenshots or a video link alongside your report - showing us what you found is always better than just describing it.

Please note: we're looking for something you genuinely experienced yourself. Copy-pasted reports or issues found through online research won't be considered.

There are no strict length requirements - a clear, well-structured report is all we're looking for. This task tells us more than a CV.
